Valuation Types
Accurate replacement-value schedules prepared to the standard required by insurers. Essential for high-value jewellery, family heirlooms, and inherited pieces — ensuring your cover reflects today's market prices.
Market-value assessments for HMRC probate purposes, prepared in accordance with the Inheritance Tax Act 1984. Gaynor works sensitively with families and estate professionals at what is often a difficult time.
Independent, impartial valuations for matrimonial and financial remedy proceedings. Gaynor's court-admissible reports are accepted by the Family Division and relied upon by both parties' legal teams.
Specialist valuations for watches and horological pieces across all purposes — insurance, probate, or division of assets. Gaynor's expertise covers both antique pocket watches and contemporary luxury timepieces.
How It Works
Describe your items and requirements using the enquiry form. Gaynor will respond promptly to discuss the best approach.
Gaynor visits your home or an agreed office — no need to travel or post items.
Each piece is examined using professional gemmological equipment. Gaynor takes photographs and records all relevant details.
Two professional printed reports with photographs delivered within an agreed timeframe. Court-admissible and insurer-accepted.
What You Receive
Two professionally produced schedules, printed with photographs and presented to the standard expected by insurers, solicitors, and the courts.
One copy is for your own records. The second is ready to hand directly to your insurer, solicitor, or the court.
Gaynor carries her full portable set of gemmological testing and grading equipment, refractometer, gauges, measuring kit and light box, so no items need leave your possession. Research is completed after the visit is conducted.
Arrange a ValuationOne for your records. One for your insurer, solicitor, or the court.
Fees
Fees are charged per item valued and vary according to complexity. An initial discussion at no charge will allow Gaynor to advise on the likely cost before any commitment is made.
A travel supplement may apply for appointments beyond 45 minutes from St Neots. Contact Gaynor for a no-obligation discussion of your requirements.
Coverage Area
Gaynor covers Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and South Lincolnshire — visiting private clients at home and bi-weekly visits to retail jewellers throughout the area.
All appointments are within 1.5 hours of St Neots. If you are unsure whether your location falls within the area, please get in touch — Gaynor will be happy to advise.
Occasional visits outside the core area may be possible by arrangement.
Horology
Gaynor's horological knowledge spans several centuries of watchmaking — from Victorian pocket watches to contemporary luxury wristwatches from the world's leading marques.
Each horological valuation is cross-referenced against current auction results, grey-market pricing, and manufacturer retail data to ensure the figure accurately reflects the present market.
Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, IWC, and other prestige marques valued to current market.
Victorian pocket watches, dress watches, and decorative timepieces with full provenance consideration.
Service papers, original boxes, and accompanying certificates considered as part of each valuation.
Having documentation to hand can support a more precise valuation, though a thorough assessment is always carried out regardless of what paperwork accompanies a piece.
